Mini Metabolism Checks – Preventative Health Promotion

Feeling stuck, tired, or wanting a clearer picture of your health?

For a limited time, Arrowtown Medical & Health is offering a Mini Metabolism Clinic with Dr Anne-Thea McGill for the cost of a standard GP consultation, plus blood tests.

This focused check provides an introduction to your metabolism and overall health. It helps you understand how your body is using food and energy, and whether there are early signs that something may need attention.

Your metabolism is the chemistry that determines how your body uses nutrients, regulates energy, and responds to hormones, stress, sleep, and lifestyle patterns.

During this consultation, Dr McGill reviews key blood tests and body measurements and explains what they mean for you. You will receive practical, written guidance on nutrition and lifestyle, with simple strategies that can support long term health.

This check is designed as a practical first step toward understanding your metabolism and making informed choices about your health.

A simple two-step metabolism check

Step 1:

Pre-check blood test and measurements

A short appointment to gather the information Dr McGill needs to review your metabolism.

At this visit, we will:

  • Take blood for a basic metabolism blood test
  • Record a few simple body measurements such as weight, blood pressure, and waist circumference

Blood tests may include blood sugars, cholesterol and blood fats, liver and kidney function, and key micronutrients. If you have had blood tests within the last 9 – 12 months, some tests may not need to be repeated.

This appointment will be quick and straightforward, and allows Dr McGill to review your results before your next visit.

Step 2:

Review your metabolism results with Dr McGill

About a week later, you will return for a short follow-up appointment with Dr McGill to review your test results.

During this appointment, Dr McGill will:

  • Explain your blood test results in plain language
  • Discuss what the results suggest about how your metabolism is functioning
  • Identify early warning signs or areas to focus on
  • Give practical written guidance on nutrition and lifestyle
  • Share useful strategies and common traps that influence metabolism

This streamlined review gives a useful overview of your metabolism and practical next steps. If needed, follow-up or more in-depth consultation can be arranged.

Who is this metabolism check for?

This check is designed for people who want a clearer understanding of how their metabolism may be affecting their health.

It may be helpful if you:

  • Feel your energy, weight, or appetite has changed
  • Experience acid reflux, bloating, gas, or bowel concerns
  • Want to understand your risk of insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, or metabolic conditions, or have a family history of these
  • Struggle with weight, eating habits, cravings, or food noise
  • Want proactive, preventative health advice before problems develop
  • Are curious about how nutrition, hormones, and lifestyle affect metabolism and long-term health

Metabolism is not just about calories or weight. It reflects how your body uses nutrients, manages energy, and responds to hormones, stress, and lifestyle patterns.

Dr McGill’s approach focuses on helping people understand why we naturally crave certain foods and why healthier foods can take time for the body to adapt to. Because metabolism is influenced by body type and life stage, advice needs to be tailored to you. Small, practical changes in nutrition and habits can make a meaningful difference to long-term health.

For some people, this focused check is enough to get back on track. Others may choose to continue with a more in-depth Metabolism Programme Dr McGill offers.
